New Year, New You!

January is the time when we set our best intentions. Maybe we want to exercise more. Maybe we want to lose weight. Maybe we want to spend more time with loved ones. It should come as no surprise that ballroom dancing can help with keeping these types of resolutions.

Ballroom Dancing

The nature of ballroom dance is exercise. It is much more enjoyable than the "have to go to the gym" variety. You don't have to worry about anyone watching or judging you. Everyone is too busy dancing. You don't have to dress for it. You dress as casually or as dressy as you like. You don't need any special equipment. A good pair of dancing shoes is all you need to get started. Also, since classes are at a specific time, it is hard to put off exercising.

Health and Weight Loss

Incorporating a healthy diet is important to losing weight but exercise is crucial. One of the most difficult things about losing weight is to keep exercising and not quit. Ballroom dance is an easy way to do that. Dancing is fun that going to class is something to look forward to instead of dread. Once you learn how to dance you'll find yourself dancing in places other than the dance floor. No need to go to a gym when your dance floor is immediately available.

Fun Group Activity

Since ballroom dancing is a partner activity it is a wonderful way to spend time with loved ones. Many times we think that ballroom dance is for romantic partners such as husbands and wives or other couples. Ballroom dance is for many types of couples such as fathers and daughters, friends, even extended family. Going to dance class is an easy way to make time for loved ones. Having a shared activity will make it easy to continue to make time for a loved one.
